I followed a woman on YouTube who advised putting damp garment in the washing machine then pouring over a, cup of salt dissolved (in 4 cups of simmering water (most of the salt doesn’t dissolve), along with another 4 cups of simmering water to which is added the dye powder or liquid (well shaken) & a teaspoon of dish washing liquid. Set washing machine to hottest & longest possible setting & press start. The results were superb on a denim jacket that had been accidentally soaked in Vanish. I also dyed a navy linen/cotton jacket with bleach spots on one sleeve; the dye coloured those spots a little but they needed filling in with a permanent navy marker pen. Delighted that these much loved jackets could be restored & not put in a bin.
